FATE (focus assessed transthoracic echocardiography) is the original focused echo protocol practiced since 1989. FATE is easily and quickly learned and meets the basic echocardiographic needs for the non-cardiologist in order to guide cardiopulmonary optimization. FATE can be applied in all clinical scenarios and locations. FATE can be performed in few seconds or extended to a more comprehensive echocardiographic examination depending on the clinical needs. FATE also encounters a quick guidance to interpret the echocardiographic findings and to put it into a clinical context. All essential information is printed on a double-sided laminated pocket card distributed in more than 25.000 pieces worldwide.
A one-day FATE-basic course dedicated to different specialities can now be attended.
The following topics will be covered:
- Basic ultrasound theory including knobology, pitfalls and artefacts.
- Applying ultrasound findings for haemodynamic optimization.
- How to perform a FATE examination.
- Recognition of the most important pathology.
- Hands-on sessions in groups of 4-5 trainees using adult models.
